9K38 Igla surface-to-air missile system (SA-18/ GREAT), for suppression of aircraft over the range 100 to 3500 meters in altitude and a range up to 5200 meters (for targets going at a speed of 320 to 400 m / s) – supplied complete with its shooting station 9P516 and two missiles 9M39. “Fire and forget” fire control – passive infrared homing, for a P (probability of kill – probability of destruction of the target) of 30 to 48%.
Served by one to two operators, via the firing station 9P516 – overall mass of 17Kg (including 10,8Kg for the missile), put in combat order in a few seconds. Missile 9M39 – HE head with 1,27 kg of explosive – mass of 10,8Kg, for a length of 170cm, a diameter of 7,2 cm & a wingspan of 16cm (tail deployed).
